Outside, the freezing desert night.
This other night inside grows warm, kindling.
Let the landscape be covered with thorny crust.
We have a soft garden in here.
The continents blasted,
cities and little towns, everything
become a scorched, blackened ball.
The news we hear is full of grief for that future,
but the real news inside here
is there's no news at all.

I keep telling myself something like this, in the midst of the dark chaos in the world. The real news is inside here, and there is no news. It reminds me of what I heard recently (where?), that the soul does not wish to move; the soul wishes to be at rest. The soul doesn't need to accomplish anything. It is society that pulls us out into that chaos. If we all truly lived in the no-news inside, I believe the affect on the outside world would be one of tremendous peace.
in my emerging understanding of the world (which is so often described to me in terms of anxieties about almost everything) i wish this were true for people. that they could move beyond the surface of their experiencing and know the calm that is freely available "within". steven
The corporations serve up news and information about the world that is just like the food they produce: toxic and life denying. By avoiding their junk news and their junk food you can enjoy a healthy mind and a healthy body.
The news I enjoy is local, seasonal, and organic, just like my food. The outside world here in my world is full of the good and happy news of spring. Robins, daffodils, fluffy clouds in a bright blue sky, the smile of a five year old child.
It's well worth considering that it's not so much the inside versus the outside as much as it's wholesome input versus unwholesome input.
