What Rumi intends to say here is that a person should die one death, the death that's actual one and not die every moment with fear while living. This is achieved when we humans have complete faith in the Almighty
One should die only once in a lifetime that's when the actual death takes over rather than dying every moment due to fear or anxieties whilst alive. This is achieved when the human being has unwavering faith n hope in the Almighty Lord.
At the request of a Rumi Reader, I have enabled comments, because I agree that someone, sometime might want to write about the power of Rumi's words. So many times they have met me in ways I just have to share, and so I want you to have that opportunity here. There is no expectation for comments, but please do write something if you feel the urge. ~ Ruth
